Carefree Yacht Charters adds Greece as its newest charter destination!

We recently returned from 17 glorious days in the Greek Islands. Five of those days were dedicated to our attendance at the Crewed Charter Yacht Show in Poros, Greece where we discovered sleek Power Yachts, classic Motor Sailers, fabulous crews and a warm and friendly island community. Our remaining 12 days were spent island hopping our way from Poros, to car free Hydra (where the only mode of transport through the twisting, cobbled alleyways is by donkey), and finally on to the popular Cyclades island group:

The Cyclades – the islands that typify Greece:

The Cyclades, which include well-known Mykonos and Santorini, are the most popular grouping of islands found in Greece. With their white-washed villages, popular beaches and blue domed churches, these are the islands that typify Greece. Travel highlights included:

Mykonos: one of our favorite stops, this island is best known for its popular beaches and cosmopolitan nightlife. This island was recently rated as one of the Top 10 Beach Scenes in the world – those with the hottest beaches and coolest night life – according to TripAdvisor travelers and editors. This is what they said, "Hordes of scantily clad sunbathers plant themselves on the picturesque beaches of Mykonos before heading into Chora for some umbrella drinks and all-night dancing."

Paros: this pretty island has a more laid-back feel than its neighbor to the north, Mykonos. While its north coast features the trendy fishing village of Naousa, where sea-side cafes and upscale boutiques line the alleyways, the island retains its charm with its picturesque hill-villages and olive groves.

Santorini: famous for its shopping, cliff-side villages, and amazing sunsets, Santorini is usually at the top of any visitors “must see” list. In 1450 BC this volcanic island erupted, forming the stunning cliffs that are now packed with restaurants, shops and bars.

The charter season in Greece:

The typical charter season in Greece runs from mid May through the end of September. The peak charter months in Greece fall during the months of July and August, however this is also when the islands see a large influx of European tourists as well as the possibility of strong “Meltimi” winds in the Cyclades. It is therefore recommended, if possible, to plan any charters to Greece during the months of June and September.
