Here's what Joseph & Britta told Carefree Yacht Charters about their favorite type of charter group: "Over the years we have had a mix of couples and families and we love both. We understand that people want to unwind when they are on vacation so we offer a wide array of activities with the options of lounging and relaxing on deck or a sandy beach. We definitely love to have foodies on board so we can showcase our abilities in the galley."

Reviews from our Carefree Clients

A family that we booked aboard 52' Catamaran Grace in April 2021 said:

There were two primary things I told you when we first spoke: (1) my family likes good food, and (2) my son and I are inexperienced divers. From that information, as well as our other discussions, you paired us with the perfect yacht and crew. First of all, Joseph’s creativity and technique as a chef cannot be overstated. Our children may never eat our cooking again. Our daughter photographed every meal and made her friends wildly jealous with her running culinary photo essay. Last night when we got home our son said, “It’s like we were going to Commander’s Palace every night.” As for the diving, Britta was fantastic. My thirteen-year-old son had not done a diver since he was certified two years earlier, and wasn’t sure he wanted to dive at all on this trip. Britta was patient with both of us, and by the end of the trip my son seemed incredibly comfortable in the water.

Not only will we be back, we will be back specifically with Joseph and Britta aboard Grace. The boat itself is beautiful, and is very professionally run by its crew. Joseph and Britta are fun people, but they also take their jobs seriously. Their work never seems to end. The boat is exceptionally well organized, never cluttered, and always well maintained. Nothing gets in the way of the guests enjoying their trip, even if each individual has different interests. Joseph captains the boat expertly and is always planning or preparing the next meal. Britta serves as everything from first mate to sous chef, and mixologist to dive master. Add in their lovely and sweet little dog Zoe, and they are a truly remarkable team.

Long story short, my family has concluded that this may well be the highest form of vacation in existence.

Hi Lynne, Just wanted to pass along a quick note and let you know we had a wonderful time with Joseph and Britta on Grace. Thank you so much for helping us bring the charter together. We look forward to booking again in the future.

Hi Lynne, your ears must be burning. I was just getting my thoughts together to compose an email to you as follow up from the trip. Will send something out tonight or tomorrow. Bottom line: fabulous experience, meals that were so off the chart good that I don't have enough descriptive superlatives to do them justice and super attentive service aboard a truly beautiful boat. More to come - but want to thank you for the pairing - you nailed it. Also - newsletter sounds great.

Hi Lynne,

Few thoughts that might help.

-Lynne of Carefree Yacht Charters was the reason the McCarthy family got connected to Grace and her Crew. Both Lynne and her husband were incredibly responsive, by far the most 'on top' of the communication protocols over all the other brokers I reached out to at the start of the process

-Lynne is the perfect balance of authority, active listener and deal closer that makes an expense of this magnitude feel 'comfortable' and something that will provide deep value (I mean, let's face it, after travel, diving, additional gratuity, and week expense we just bought a really nice used car 🙂) Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind the value equation is totally on the side of the guests when it comes to Grace

-Also, very grateful that the 'owner, operator, clearing house and broker' were understanding of the COVID19 situation, the nuisance of limited travel (no BVI) and the ongoing concerns and uncertainty in the overall economy. I felt like I had a partner who was as invested in this experience as my family.

-Grace is really the perfect platform for a week with 5 or 6 folks

-Grace offers the opportunity to convene as a group, or sneak away to her various corners and be alone with a book for any period of time - our favorite spot was sitting up on the fly bridge - either underway, or on mooring.

-Grace's cabins are super functional and never felt confining in any way.  Tons of natural light, fantastic linen and design features in each cabin along with separate heads was really fantastic

-This was our only experience with this type of vacation, so I can't comment on any other vessel or crew - however, I will not do another week on a catamaran unless it's with Britta and Joseph

-Britta has a super easy personality with her guests, she 'gracefully' moves between speaking "adult" "teenager" and "kid" - a rare gift

-Britta has some kind of corner on the best rum cocktails - can't say this enough as most rum drinks in the islands are full of sugar and junk - the drinks that come out of the bar are as extraordinary as the food out of the galley - she also is great about making special drinks for those under 21 - so that they feel like part of the party crew

-Chef - so - this one is tough to describe - over the last few days folks have asked me about how "my vacation was"...  I answer with - "I enjoyed a meal of (fill in the blank - but let's say scallops, or braised oxtail, or tuna tartar) each night with my children, and watched them devour the cuisine. 14, 12 and 10-year old's now have a point of view, an interest in and an appreciation for real fine dining. They tried everything Joseph prepared (sure, they weren't perfect and one day broke down when they saw the pizza boat)... This, for me, was a huge deal. I was really proud of the kids and very thankful for Joseph's abilities in the galley and Britta's attention to service.

-Water toys were greatKids wake boarded all over (where legal) the USVI with either Captain Joseph at the helm of the tender or Britta Britta and Joseph led dives and snorkeling excursions (always followed by a killer drink or snack)

-Did I mention the food? Fresh baked goods each morning, fresh homemade bread each evening... I mean COME ON!!!!!

-Taco Tuesday with theme music and homemade masa tortillas Zoie is a huge hit and was a welcome participant in our adventure

-We did have a few mechanical challenges - which limited our ability to sail long distances - but we overcame them and again, that was another life lesson for the kids

Hope some of these points will help the next family who is attempting to make a decision on the vacation of a lifetime Lynne.

Thank you much, You did a really wonderful job.

Joseph and Britta grew up a world apart but ended up finding each other and true love in the beautiful Virgin Islands. He grew up on a small family farm in the Pacific Northwest and she grew up with her toes in the sand on the white sandy beaches of Florida. Before moving to the Caribbean, Joseph received degrees the Culinary Arts and Patisserie and Baking from Western Culinary Institute in Portland Oregon. In 2009, he packed his bags for the islands where he immediately bought and resided on his new boat in the Virgin Islands. Britta came to St
