We had a great vacation. Southern Comfort was beautiful and totally appropriate for a family of our size (5 people, teenage kids). The boat had everything we would have wanted, including the scuba gear and compressor (so we didn't need to be constantly stopping to fill up tank air), stand up paddle boards, masks, and many other fun toys. The AC worked great (to the point that it was actually cold in the cabin until we adjusted the temp), and everything on the ship seemed to be in good shape and worked when we needed it to. There were plenty of nice seating areas including up front, in the back, and up on the fly deck. So we were able to space out when we needed/wanted to.
Ish was a fabulous captain. He took us to great locations, and always managed to find a good and quiet dive location on the days we dove. He managed the itinerary on the fly, based on where we were at with diving, the weather, and our moods. As a divemaster, Ish was incredible. I had 2 of my kids with me, and he worked with them wonderfully. When one of my kids got nervous, Ish immediately suggested that he go down and do the training dive one-on-one. That worked, and I now have 2 PADI certified kids! He was a very strong teacher, and I feel very safe for having done this learning with Ish. I would recommend him in a heartbeat for anyone with children who want to learn - he had a great attitude, was extremely knowledgeable, and really got my kids excited about the diving, while conveying the importance of learning all of the safety procedures and PADI information.

As a child, Ish anxiously awaited the arrival of summer when he would head to his grandparents’ cottage in Ontario. The waters of Lake Huron became the playground where Ish learned to sail his grandparents’ 16’ Wayfarer. On any given sunny summer day, he could be found out on the lake struggling to untangle himself from a rat’s nest of lines or being caught by a sneaky gust that caused him to capsize.
