Virgin Islands Sailing Yacht Charter Vacations

The Virgin Islands are known as the sailing capital of the Caribbean, largely due to the constant trade winds and the close proximity of the islands to one another. This is the ideal destination for first-time charterers with its protected waters and wide variety of excellent anchorages to choose from.

The Virgin Islands, an archipelago of over 40 islands, islets and cays offer something for everyone – you can choose to be as active or laid back as you like. Discover incredible sailing, an abundance of snorkel and dive sites, crystal clear waters, pristine beaches, small boutiques, and unique beach bars and restaurants at every turn. The close proximity of the islands allow for a new island destination each day, each with its own unique character and charm.

Crewed yacht charters in the Virgin Islands are all inclusive of food, beverage, standard bar, and use of onboard sports equipment for the duration of the charter.  The best time to charter in the Virgin Islands is from early November through late June and this is the typical charter season for most yachts. It should be noted that the tropical hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30th. While there are a handful of our featured yachts that will run charters during the peak hurricane months of July through October, clients are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance for this time frame.

The U.S. Virgin Islands:

St. Thomas offers a convenient airport with major jets servicing the island. Clients can spend a few hours before or after their charter shopping this bustling harbor and will also find an array of hotels and restaurants to choose from. St. John, its U.S. neighbor, offers a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas. With 80% of St. John being national park, St. John offers one quaint town and numerous pristine beaches and hiking trails to explore. U.S. based charter yachts typically spend one to two nights in U.S. waters.

The British Virgin Islands:

The British Virgin Islands (BVI’s) also offer air service, with connections through San Juan, Puerto Rico. The BVI’s are where a majority, if not all of your charter yacht vacation will be spent. Offering a much more laid-back feel and remoteness, you’ll soon discover why the BVI’s are known as Nature’s Little Secret.
